Frequently asked questions

Everything about playing Puppy Sweeper, hints, ads and purchases, and play-time limits.

Playing

How do I play Puppy Sweeper?

Every board has two parts. First, clean up: tap tiles to uncover the park and find every poop without stepping in one. Then catch the puppy: once the park is clean the puppy lands, and you tap tiles to put up fences until it has nowhere left to go.

What do the flies and numbers mean?

An uncovered tile with a fly and a number tells you how many poops touch it, counting all eight tiles around it, diagonals included. A tile with no flies has no poops around it, so it opens up its neighbours by itself.

Can every board be solved without guessing?

Yes. Your first tap is always safe and always opens an area. After that, the game only deals boards that a solver can clear using the fly clues alone, so there's always a safe move to find. Here's how it works.

How do I mark a poop?

Long-press a covered tile to put a flag on it, and long-press again to take it off. Or turn on Flag in the bar under the board, and every tap places a flag until you turn it off. Tapping a number whose poops are all flagged opens the rest of its neighbours at once.

How does the puppy chase work?

Tap any open tile to put a fence on it. After most fences a puppy makes a move: a step, a leap over a tile, or a diagonal hop, usually towards the edge. Every second fence (every third in the Puppy Park) it stops to sniff instead. Box it in so it can't move and you win. If it reaches the edge, you can try the chase again from the same clean board.

Which boards can I play?

The Puppy Pen (7 × 10 with 9 poops and one puppy), the Puppy Yard (9 × 12 with 17 poops and two puppies) and the Puppy Park, which is sized to fit your phone and has a pond in the middle. Pick one on the home screen.

How do stars work?

Every win means you found every poop and caught every puppy. Catch them on your first chase for three stars, a paw-fect result. Catch them after trying the chase again for two.

What is Easy mode?

Easy mode, in Settings → Gameplay, puts fewer poops on every board, so boards are gentler. For example, the Puppy Pen has 7 poops instead of 9.

What happens if I step in a poop?

The board is lost, and you can choose Try this board again to replay the same board from the start, or New board for a fresh one. For a fresh board at any time, tap ⟳, to the left of Hint.

Hints

How do hints work?

Tap Hint and the game flags one poop for you, with a pulsing ring around it. Your first hint on each board is free. For more, you can watch a short ad, or remove ads to get unlimited hints.

Is there an undo?

No. Every board can be solved with logic, so take your time: the clock doesn't punish thinking. If you do step in a poop, you can try the same board again.

What if an ad doesn't load?

You get the hint anyway. You're never blocked because an ad isn't available, for example when you're offline.

Ads and purchases

Are the ads safe for children?

Yes. Every ad request is marked as directed to children, so Google AdMob shows only family-friendly (G-rated) ads and never personalised ones. The app never asks to track you.

How often do ads show?

An ad may show when you tap Next board after a win, but never after your first win since opening the app, at most once every 2 wins, and never within 2 minutes of the last ad. No ad follows a lost board, and there are no ads while you play, except ones you choose to watch for a hint.

How do I remove ads?

Buy Remove ads, a one-time purchase, in Settings → Ads or from the link after a win. Ads stop straight away, and hints become unlimited.

I got a new phone. How do I get Remove ads back?

Open Settings → Ads and tap Restore purchases, signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with. On Android it's usually restored automatically when you reinstall.

Does Remove ads carry over between iPhone and Android?

No. Purchases belong to the store you bought from, so a purchase made on the App Store can't be restored on Google Play, or the other way round.

Play time

What are break reminders and play limits?

Optional tools in Settings → Play time. A break reminder shows a friendly message after 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours of continuous play. A play limit of 1, 2 or 3 hours locks the game for a break of 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour. Both are off by default. Why we built them.

Can I skip a play-limit lock?

No, that's the point of it. The lock shows a countdown and lifts by itself, even if the app is closed and opened again. Continuous play starts again after you've been away for 10 minutes or more.

Settings

Can I change the colours or use dark mode?

Yes. Settings → Appearance has four colour themes, Sunny Park, Cozy Den, Bubble Bath and Carnival, and a dark mode switch.

Can I turn off vibration or sound?

Yes. Settings → Gameplay has a Haptics switch, and a Sound effects switch with a volume slider. The sounds follow your phone's silent switch and never pause your music.

Privacy and support

Do I need an account? Is my progress backed up?

No account is needed. Your settings are stored only on your phone, so deleting the app removes them.

What data does Puppy Sweeper collect?

We don't collect your name, email or contacts. Ads in the free version are served by Google AdMob, which may collect limited device information to show and measure ads. If you remove ads, no ads are requested at all. Sharing your score uses your phone's own share sheet; the app never sees where it goes. Read the full privacy policy.
